MATTHEW KARAS
In collaboration with professional dancers, photographer Matthew Karas's latest project, Apparitions, explores the extraordinary convergence of time and space. Capturing the seemingly impossible, it reflects the perfect harmony of creative energy between artist and muse.
Matt portrays the earthly presence of the dancers entwined with their spiritual representation, capturing the present alongside echoes of the past and glimpses into the future. Apparitions represent the universal struggles and triumphs we all encounter while expressing the emotions that accompany them. What distinguishes this project is the emphasis on capturing everything "in camera," with a single exposure, creating a narrative within each frame. The project involved a fusion of traditional photographic techniques and the application of cutting edge technology.
I have had the privilege of working with professional dancers whose dedication and artistry have brought depth and authenticity to the project, enriching the narratives embedded within each photograph. Throughout my photographic career spanning nearly two decades, I have created a diverse body of both commercial and fine art photography. With every image, I strive to convey an emotional essence, built upon a profound connection to every individual I collaborate with.
